Level D Cut Resistance
Level D cut-resistance indicated a garment can withstand up to 15 newtons of downward force. This ensures protection against blade tips, machine parts and other dangerous material found on building sites and in factories and warehouses.

What is EN 388?
You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 388. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.
There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 388. EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures.
How Do I Read the EN 388 Score?
Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see N/A written instead of a number.
Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F with the higher letter offering better cut protection.
Where Can I Find Out More?
This is just a brief overview of EN standard EN 388 so you know where you are standing. For further information, you can see the Introductory EN 388 Blog in our Knowledge Centre.

I can now play the mandolin, confident I'm not likely to find a slice of finger in the coleslaw

Cut resistant glove for kitchen use 07 October 2021 | Julian
I bought a level 5 cut resistant glove for use with a mandolin slicer in the kitchen. The website is excellent, one of the best I've used, so finding out what to buy, and what size to choose, was easy. The glove is comfortable and gives a feeling of reassurance when using this hazardous device.

I bought myself some professional knives but wary as to how sharp they are so as a precaution needed a safety glove that was comfortable & not cumbersome. They work a treat & are washable.

Not the most glamorous of kitchen equipment but using theses gloves with our newly purchased mandoline means me and the wife can still count to ten with our socks on.

Great for making sure that you end up with the same number of fingers as when you you started. In that sense, it does exactly what it says on the box.

I have used the gloves while using a very sharp mandolin for slicing vegetables. The gloves haven’t caught the blade at all so I do not know how they would stand up to this or protect me but they do appear very sturdy.
I purchased a pair but only really needed one.
I am usually very careful using such sharp equipment but the gloves give me added protection and make it feel safer.
I have machine washed the gloves and they have come up clean and looking as new with no damage.
So far very pleased.

Excellent for a clumsy home cook 29 June 2020 | Martyn
Having purchased a top set of knives I had issues with blades but having these gloves really improved my confidence in using the knives. Excellent fit and easy to clean. So far no cuts to hands so they are doing their job. Would recommend.

A well made product but go for a larger size if in doubt having measured palm width. I thought I had but still find them a tight fit and difficult to get on and off. This makes preparing vegetables rather more difficult than it might otherwise be without them.
