Resistance Ratings and Standards for Adept NFT Gloves
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 4 |
Cut Resistance | Level 1 |
Tear Resistance | Level 3 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 1 |
ISO Cut Resistance | N/A |
EN 407
EN 407 is a European safety regulation governing the sale of gloves and garments that are resistant to any number of fire, heat and molten related hazards. Please view the table below to find out more:
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Burning | N/A |
Contact Heat | Level 1 (100°C) |
Convective Heat | N/A |
Radiant Heat | N/A |
Molten Metal (Small Splashes) | N/A |
Molten Metal (Large Splashes) | N/A |
What Do These Standards Mean?
Adept NFT Safety Gloves have a high abrasion resistance rating. This means they will not wear down over time and are suited to constant contact with boxes, products, material and debris.
A Level 1 contact heat resistance rating ensures the user can carry, handle and move heated material with a temperature not exceeding 100°C for up to fifteen seconds. This is ideal for foundry workers and machinists who need to safely transfer hot and hazardous material.
What Applications Suit NFT Nitrile Coated Safety Gloves?
Due to their high abrasion resistance and nitrile coating, NFT Safety Gloves are designed for use in high-traffic packing and picking environments. See below for a few examples:
Nitrile Coating Benefits
Nitrile is an incredibly flexible coating that provides additional resistance to oil, fuel and chemicals. Nitrile is used as a protective coating in gloves because it matches the pliability of latex with the hazard and injury protection properties of a heavier, woven glove.
Palm-Only Coating Benefits
A palm only coating allows the back of a glove to breath. Full coatings trap odour and can become sweaty because they do not allow for a natural flow of air. A palm only coating keeps the vulnerable palm area protected whilst remaining light and breathable in the face of heavy perspiration and odour. If you like a lighter, inobtrusive style, a palm only coating is ideal.
Innovative "Sanitized" Odour and Perspiration Relief
The Sanitized fabric hygiene system helps to reduce the growth and spread of microorganisms that are particularly problematic, such as clostridia and other antibiotic-resistant bacteria. This is particularly beneficial to work gloves because of the build up sweat and the risk of cross contamination from hand to face throughout the day.
Vegan Materials
Whether you're looking for a pair of gloves that don't incorporate leather, or you're concerned about the impact that non-sustainable materials are having on the environment, Adept NFT 100°C Contact Heat Resistant Warehouse Gloves are perfect for you. Made without the use of animal products and leathers, Adept NFT 100°C Contact Heat Resistant Warehouse Gloves use man-made fabrics that are just as durable and long-lasting as materials traditionally sourced from animals.

What is EN 388?
You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 388. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.
There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 388. EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures.
How Do I Read the EN 388 Score?
Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see N/A written instead of a number.
Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F with the higher letter offering better cut protection.
