Protection Ratings for Polyco Heat Resistant Safety Gloves
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Rating |
---|
Abrasion Resistance | Level 1 |
Cut Resistance | Level 2 |
Tear Resistance | Level 3 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 2 |
ISO Cut Resistance | N/A |
EN 407
EN 407 is a European safety regulation governing the sale of gloves and garments that are resistant to any number of fire, heat and molten related hazards. Please view the table below to find out more:
Standard | Resistance Rating |

Who Can Use the Polyco Hot Gloves?
Polyco Hot Glove Heat Resistant Gloves have incredible contact heat resistance and durable foundation fabric which makes them suitable for a range of hazardous professions. Please view the list below for a few examples:
- Bakers
- Industrial Food Preparation
- Autoclave
- Hot handling
- Barbecuing
Contact Heat Resistant Fabric
The Polyco Heat Safety Gloves are resistant to heated material and tools with a temperature not exceeding 250°C for an incredible fifteen seconds. This makes them perfect for foundry work, barbeques, oven removal and automotive application as it allows the user to safely transfer, put down and deconstruct highly volatile material without worrying about burns and heat penetration.
Nitrile Dotted Palm for Grip Enhancement
In order to safely handle and transfer material, you need to know that your glove provides the necessary grip stability required to do the job. Unlike other smoother safety glove designs, the Polyco Heat Safety Glove use a raised and dotted pattern at the palm to enhance the grip stability of the user.
Comfortable and Soft Knitted Wrist Cuff
A flexible wrist cuff is vital when you're wearing gloves for long periods and especially if your work or application involves manual handling. Fatigue, repetitive strain injury and tired wrists can come on quickly if your wrist isn't correctly supported, or if it isn't allowed to flex and move naturally.
Polyco Heat Safe Gloves cradle the wrist, allowing it to move and bend freely. This knitted wrist cuff sits snugly against the wrist, which also prevents dirt and debris from entering the glove.
Double the Cotton, Double the Protection
Polyco Heat Resistant Safety Gloves come complete with a double cotton design which enhances comfort and improves durability and shelf life. Granting additional resistance to scrapes, scratches and bumps, this double layered design bolsters the amount of wear and tear that a glove can take when used day-to-day.
Washing Instructions
Polyco Hot Gloves should not be machine washed. Doing so can cause shrinkage and damage to your gloves.
If washing is required, we recommend washing away any debris or dirt with a damp rag before cleaning the rest of the glove using warm water and a cloth.

What is EN 407?
You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 407. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.
There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 407. EN 407 stands for Protective Gloves Against Thermal Risks, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to burns, contact heat, convective heat, radiant heat and small and large splashes of molten metal.
How Do I read the EN 407 Score?
Reading your EN 407 score is simple, as each hazard will be provided with a score between Level 0 and Level 4. Level 0 means the gloves failed against that particular hazard, and Level 4 means that they provide the best protection possible against that hazard.
