  • 1 x Pair of Chemical Gauntlet Gloves

Which Size Do I Need?

The MaxiDry Gloves are supplied in four different sizes, meaning that most users should be able to find a size that suits them. To find the correct size, please measure the circumference and length of your hand using the image below as a guide.

How to Measure your Hand

Glove SizePalm CircumferencePalm Length

What Chemicals Do the MaxiDry Gloves Protect Against?

The MaxiDry Gauntlet Gloves offer protection against a range of chemicals. To confirm their resistance, they have been tested to EN 374 standards and achieve an EN 374 score of JKLMNO. They also have an EN 374-5 rating meaning they can protect against micro-organism contamination. The chemicals they are resistant against are outlined in the table below:

EN 374

ChemicalLevel of Resistance
n-HeptaneLevel 6 (480 mins)
Sodium Hydroxide (40%)Level 6 (480 mins)
Sulphuric Acid (96%)Level 4 (120 mins)

What Does this Mean?

You can view a full guide to this standard by clicking the "what is EN 374" tab at the top of the page. Essentially, the level 6 achieved by n-Heptane and sodium hydroxide means the gloves will protect the hands for at least eight hours, while the level 4 for sulphuric acid means they offer about two hours of protection.

What Else Will the MaxiDry Gloves Protect Against?

The MaxiDry Gloves are composed of a resilient nylon liner and a full nitrile coating for maximum resistance against oils, liquids and grease on top of their chemical resistance. Finally, they also meet EN 388 standards for resistance against mechanical risks, including abrasions and tears. Their scores for this standard are shown in the table below:

EN 388

  • 3121A
HazardLevel of Resistance
Abrasion ResistanceLevel 4
Cut ResistanceLevel 1
Tear ResistanceLevel 2
Puncture ResistanceLevel 1
Blade CutLevel A

What Does this Mean?

These gloves attain the highest possible level of abrasion resistance for fantastic protection against rough objects and scratches. This in addition to their mild level of tear resistance helps to ensure the gloves themselves are less likely to be damaged by scratches or tearing.

Please note that this is only a list of recommendations. The MaxiDry Gloves can be used for most applications where protection from oils and the chemicals they are resistant to are required. They can also protect against contamination risks as they have some micro-organism resistance.

How Long Are the MaxiDry Gloves?

The MaxiDry Chemical Resistant Gloves are extra-long for extended protection against contact with oils, chemicals or other liquids. The approximate length is 300mmm which should cover most of the forearm. This helps prevent liquids from getting into the gloves when the hands and wrists are submerged.

How Much Grip Do the MaxiDry Gloves Provide?

A high level of grip is vital when dealing with potentially harmful chemicals. To achieve this, the MaxiDry Gloves feature Maxi Glove's own GRIPtech technology, for use in dry, wet or oily conditions. This technology consists of a micro-cup, non-grip finish, which creates traction between the gloves and objects for enhanced grip and control.

How Do the MaxiDry Gloves Protect Against Liquids?

The MaxiDry Gloves cover most of your lower forearm, helping to protect against spills, splash back and liquids rolling down the cuff. However, as they are slightly open at the top it is possible for liquids to enter, so gloves with tighter cuffs are recommended for high risk applications.

How Comfortable Are the MaxiDry Gloves 56-530?

For comfort and fit, the gloves are made with a flexible nylon liner. The material fits snugly around the hands, but stretches easily to accommodate the natural movement of the hands. This flexibility helps to prevent hand fatigue even during long shifts or work.

How Flexible Are the MaxiDry Chemical Resistant Gloves?

The nylon liner of these gloves are stretchy and lightweight so users can retain as much of their natural movement as possible. To enable dexterity the fingers and other parts of the hands, only the palms have a micro-cup finish. This dexterity is essential for safety and productivity, especially in oily conditions or when hazardous substances are involved.

What Materials Are the MaxiDry Gloves Made From?

The MaxiDry Gloves are made from the following materials:

  • Coating: NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber)
  • Coating Texture: Micro-Foam with Non-Slip Grip

Washing Instructions

Gloves from ATG can be washed safely in the following way:

1. Use commercial laundry soap or detergent (do NOT use dry cleaning solutions!)
2. Wash in warm to medium hot water, do not exceed 104°F (40°C)
3. Wash for 10 minutes
4. Rinse in cold water.
5. Repeat wash and rinse if soiling is especially heavy
6. Rinse in cold water
7. Tumble dry - maximum temperature 140°F (60°C)

When laundering gloves that have especially heavy dirt or grease, include several pieces of heavy canvas in the second wash cycle - friction from the canvas against the gloves helps loosen and remove deep dirt.

IMPORTANT NOTE

During the use of gloves and the laundering process glove performance can and will deteriorate. For critical areas requiring cut and heat resistance tests need to be conducted after use and laundering to ensure that the performance criteria still meet the needs of those using the glove. Safety Gloves can accept no liability once gloves have been washed.

What is EN 374?

What is EN 374?

You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 374. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.

There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we're concerned about here is EN 374. EN 374 stands for Protective Gloves Against Chemicals, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to chemicals and micro-organisms.

How Do I Read the EN 374 Score?

Understanding EN 374 takes a little but more effort than with other standards as it comes with different letters, numbers and symbols that represent different levels of protection against different types of chemicals. Some of the different things you may see include:

  • Symbol: Corresponds to the test that the products were subjected to
  • Type: Corresponds to how many chemicals the product was tested against
  • Letter: Corresponds to which chemicals the product was tested against
  • Number: Corresponds to how long the product can withstand the chemical

Where Can I Find Out More?

We try our best to make it clear in the copy which chemicals the product can withstand. However, if it isn't clear or if you'd like to know a bit more, you can see the Introductory EN 374 Blog in our Knowledge Centre.

We use "blues" for jobs in the brewery where we need extra hand protection and a bit of a higher cuff, they last a couple of weeks and are resistant to everything we throw at them, excellent value and quality.
