Resistance Ratings for Hex1 Reinforced Impact Comfort Gloves

EN 388

  • 4121XP

EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.

The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.

Applications of the Hex1 Reinforced Comfort Gloves

Offering grip in dry and wet conditions, the Hex1 Gloves offer reinforced protection across a wide range of mechanical environments. Some of the applications where these gloves are recommended include:

Innovative Technology That You Can Trust

HexArmor consistently produce high quality, industry leading gloves because they aren't afraid to use innovative and new technology in order to achieve results. This is no different with the Hex1 Gloves, with a TP-X on the palm offering reinforced protection while special padding on the back of the gloves protect against impact.

Impact Protection of the 2131 Gloves

The gloves also use form-fitting and ergonomic material to provide comfort and dexterity, meaning that despite their high quality and strong mechanical protection, your flexibility is retained. Along with their excellent grip in wet conditions, this makes the gloves extremely versatile, proving to provide trustworthy protection across many different industries.

Adjustable Velcro Neoprene Wrist Cuff

An adjustable cuff not only prevents dirt and debris from entering the glove and causing irritation and disturbance, but it allows the user to customise their fit like never before. Simply adjust the Velcro strap to match your preference and desired feel.

A whole Host of Protections

To see the true extent of the protection on offer, please view the diagram below:

Industry Changing Comfort

These gloves boast comfort that is hard to beat anywhere in the glove industry, ensuring that dexterity and protection aren't compromised despite their ergonomic and anatomical design. An inner cotton lining guarantees your comfort during use, while the impact protection that coats across the high risk areas of the glove means that you don't need to worry about injury during work.

Hi-Vis Liner Keeps You Safe and Seen

Staying safe and seen on site is vital. HexArmor have developed these gloves with every hazard in mind, meaning no matter what situation you find yourself in, your gloves will help you stay safe. A hi-vis black and yellow colour scheme is hard to miss, which works to both keep you alert and allows either you or your gloves to be seen in darker working conditions.

HexArmor Impact Resistance

HEX1 2131 Gloves are manufactured with an impact resistant backing that guards a vulnerable area of the hand against falling material and accidental damage. Impact is an often under-looked protection rating.

Materials Used to Manufacture HexArmor Reinforced Impact Gloves

  • Inner Liner: 100% Cotton
  • Outer Palm Material: 100% PVC
  • Back of the Hand: Nylon: 96%, Spandex: 4%

What is EN 388?

What is EN 388?

You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 388. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.

There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 388. EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of your gloves' resistance to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures.

How Do I Read the EN 388 Score?

Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see N/A written instead of a number.

Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F with the higher letter offering better cut protection.

Where Can I Find Out More?

This is just a brief overview of EN standard EN 388 so you know where you are standing. For further information, you can see the Introductory EN 388 Blog in our Knowledge Centre.
