Their wide range of properties ensures suitability across many industries, with the gloves proving as useful in indoor simulated environments such as a freezer as they are in outdoor work on a construction site.

In What Temperatures Can I Use the MaxiDry Zero Gloves?

If you do work in a freezer or are planning to work through the winter, then knowing the temperature that these gloves can withstand is key. If you want to retain high flexibility, then the MaxiDry Zero Gloves will continue to provide outstanding dexterity in temperatures as low as -10°C. However if you're willing to give up a tiny amount of flexibility, then these gloves will continue to keep your hands warm in temperatures that drop as low as -30°C.

How Waterproof are the MaxiDry Gloves?

Nearly the entire MaxiDry Zero Gloves are waterproof, aside from the knitwrist. This doesn't prove to be a problem as the waterproof nitrile coating continues up to the wrist, which is ideal for handling wet items in a freezer or working outside in the wet and in the rain. These gloves are actually so waterproof that if you were to place your hands in a bucket of cold water then your fingers would remain completely dry... don't believe us? Well we did the test ourselves!

What Else Will the MaxiDry Zero Gloves Protect Me Against?

The MaxiDry Zero Gloves don't just protect you against cold and wet conditions. They are completely resistant to abrasion, and promise a high level of tear resistance that will ensure a high level of longevity too. While these properties protect your hands against mechanical risks, their coating can protect against oil and heat too, meaning that you can handle items that reach temperatures as high as 100°C.

Why Should I Trust These Gloves?

We've claimed that these gloves can protect your hands against water, cold, heat, oil and abrasion, however why should you trust what we say? Well, these gloves adhere to a number of different EN standards, which help to ensure the high quality protection of the gloves. The three standards that are relevant are demonstrated and explained underneath.

EN 388

  • 4232B
HazardLevel of Resistance
Abrasion ResistanceLevel 4
Cut ResistanceLevel 2
Tear ResistanceLevel 3
Puncture ResistanceLevel 2
ISO Cut Resistance     Level B

EN 407

  • X1XXX
HazardLevel of Resistance
Burning BehaviourN/A
Contact HeatLevel 1
Convective HeatN/A
Radiant HeatN/A
Small Splashes of Molten MetalN/A
Large Splashes of Molten MetalN/A

EN 511

  • X21
HazardLevel of Resistance
Convective Cold ResistanceLevel 0
Contact Cold ResistanceLevel 2
Water PermeabilityLevel 1

What Does This Mean?

If you aren't familiar with EN standards, you could always check out our Glove Safety Regulations blog category, where you'll find each relevant standard listed with a simple explanation of what you are looking at. Keeping it short, the EN 388 score means that the gloves can withstand the maximum abrasion possible, while good cut, tear and puncture resistance enables you to partake in medium risk activities with your hands protected. The EN 407 score means that you should be able to handle items that have a temperature of 100°C for roughly 30 seconds without your hands feeling the heat.

The EN 511 score is all things call and wet, with the level 1 for water permeability meaning that you can submerge your hands in water for up to 30 minutes without your hands becoming wet. The convective and contact cold resistance means that these gloves are tested in cold conditions and show that you should be able to work in freezing environments without your hands starting to feel the bite.

Can I Use the MaxiDry Zero Gloves with Food?

The MaxiDry Zero Gloves are suitable for use with food and meet standards EN 1866. This makes them well suited to work in a freezer or a cold store, where you may be expected to come into contact with frozen foods. See their food contact conformity statement here.

How Flexible are the MaxiDry Gloves?

The nylon and acrylic lining mean that the MaxiDry Gloves are highly flexible, and should be well suited to handling tasks that require a little more tactility. This includes using equipment and handling tools, where the flexibility shouldn't pose a problem. Should you require an extremely high level of flexibility, then we would recommend you try the Ejendals Tegera 295 Waterproof Thermal Work Gloves as they provide the same level of cold resistance with outstanding dexterity and sensitivity.

How Much Grip do the Zero Thermal Gloves Provide?

They are designed with a nitrile coating that is textured with micro-foam and a non-slip grip, something that extends to the knitwrist and provides grip even in the oily, wet and icy conditions. This textured coating enables items to stick to your palms, helping to reduce the chances of dropping items when conditions are hazardous.

How Comfortable are the Zero Thermal Gloves to Wear?

Featuring a comfortable inner nylon and acrylic blend liner, these gloves are extremely comfortable to wear. They are quite snug, but an artificial lining remains soft around your hand which is ideal for extended use when the conditions are less comfortable. This soft inner liner keeps you warm too, perfect for use at work.

Will the Knitwrist Completely Protect My Wrist?

The MaxiDry Zero Gloves feature a knitwrist which is designed to offer a little warmth and protection. However the knitwrist is highly flexible for easy donning, and does not feature the same cold and water resistance as the rest of the gloves. If you'd like resistance that stretches up your wrists, take a look at our Thermal Waterproof Work Gloves category, where you will find some gloves better suited to you.

Are the MaxiDry Zero Gloves dermatologically Friendly?

The MaxiDry Zero Gloves are designed to be friendly to the skin, using something called HandCare to ensure that the chances of skin irritation are reduced. They are dermatologically tested to ensure skin health, while their sanitised design passed the Oeko-Tex gold standard meaning that it is industry recognised as been good for the skin.

What are the MaxiDry Gloves Made From?

The MaxiDry Gloves are designed using skin friendly materials. Their construction includes:

  • Nitrile Butadiene Rubber
  • Nylon
  • Acrylic
  • Latex and silicone free

Can I Wash My MaxiDry Gloves?

Should your MaxiDry Gloves become dirty, then it is recommended that you wash the gloves a maximum of three times. You can wash them on a 40°C wash, but we recommend that you do not use cleaning solutions. For further information, please see full laundry instructions.

Please note that washing the MaxiDry Gloves may damage their overall performance.

Washing Instructions

Gloves from ATG can be washed safely in the following way:

1. Use commercial laundry soap or detergent (do NOT use dry cleaning solutions!)
2. Wash in warm to medium hot water, do not exceed 104°F (40°C)
3. Wash for 10 minutes
4. Rinse in cold water.
5. Repeat wash and rinse if soiling is especially heavy
6. Rinse in cold water
7. Tumble dry - maximum temperature 140°F (60°C)

When laundering gloves that have especially heavy dirt or grease, include several pieces of heavy canvas in the second wash cycle - friction from the canvas against the gloves helps loosen and remove deep dirt.

IMPORTANT NOTE

During the use of gloves and the laundering process glove performance can and will deteriorate. For critical areas requiring cut and heat resistance tests need to be conducted after use and laundering to ensure that the performance criteria still meet the needs of those using the glove. Safety Gloves can accept no liability once gloves have been washed.

What is EN 511?

What is EN 511?

You might have noticed that this product adheres to EN standard EN 511. EN standards ensure that the product you are buying meets the safety standards of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the highest standards organisation recognised by and working on behalf of the European Union. To pass any EN standard, a PPE product must undergo some of the most rigorous safety tests around.

There are many EN standards that our gloves adhere to. However, the EN standard that we’re concerned about here is EN 511. EN 511 stands for all things cold, and means that your gloves have been tested for their convective cold resistance, contact cold resistance and water permeability properties.

How Do I Read the EN 511 Score?

Simply speaking, the higher the score achieved the better the product will be at resisting the hazard tested. For the first two tests (convective cold resistance and contact cold resistance), the product will achieve between a Level 0 and a Level 4. The higher the score the better the resistance, with a Level 0 score meaning that it failed and an N/A score meaning that the product wasn’t tested for this hazard.

For water permeability the product will achieve either a Level 0 or a Level 1. Level 1 means that the product is waterproof, and Level 0 means that it isn't.

Excellent gloves

Bought these for my friend who works with refrigerated products. He is so pleased with them and says that his hands have been kept warm all day long for the first time in years. He also loves that he does not have to worry about them tearing easily and that they are so flexible. He has even taking to wearing them outside of his work on cold or wet wintry days.

So, all in all, an excellent product that had swift delivery as well. Most impressed.

Every horse owner needs these in the winter. Fully waterproof and thermal, absolute godsend when doing water buckets, soaking feed, doing anything in the rain. They’re not pretty, but let’s face it, neither are we at this time of year.

Bought to use when filling hay nets and doing horse stables. They look like ordinary rubber gloves but have a lovely warm lining. I had no problems with opening hay nets, no need to take the gloves off first. Can really recommend.

Best gloves I’ve bought

Having had two surgical procedures to remove thorns from my hands, I have spent a fortune on what are said to be ‘the strongest’ or ‘the toughest’ gloves, but alas, they aren’t. These on the other hand are perfect! Not only are they strong and tough and thorn proof, they are really comfortable too. Would recommend

Although I've not worn them yet, I am very pleased with them. They have a thermal lining and waterproof material on the outside. They also look as though they will not wear too quickly either. I will be using them in the winter for garden use as we have some chickens and handle their feeder and water drinker and also cleaning etc. I would recommend them.

These are the first gloves that have kept my hands warm and dry when gardening in an exposed part of Scotland. I wish I’d had them months ago after a winter of painfully cold hands.

Good gloves - but too small

I've no doubt these are fully waterproof, warm and with a surprising amount of dexterity. My dad, however, found them too small and unfortunately size XXL is unavailable. They may be true to size, just he has big hands and a couple of arthritic joints.

These are the only gloves which I have found that are really warm when I break the ice off the duck pond and then walk with wet dog leads in hand!
